Longfields Day Centre based in Bethany Lane, West Cross, Swansea, is now able to offer its hydrotherapy pool for hire to individuals and groups within the community.
Hydrotherapy Pool and Fitness Centre
The Hydrotherapy Pool is excellent for a wide range of disabilities, post-operative rehabilitation and recovery from injury, with hoist for people who cannot walk, disabled toilet and shower facilities, including a shower bed. The Hydrocotherapy Pool is excellent for a wide range of disabilities, post-operative rehabilitation and recovery from injury, with hoist for people who cannot walk, disabled toilet and shower facilities, including a shower bed. The Hydrotherapy Pool also includes music and sensory lighting effects for a totally relaxing experience.
The water is kept at a constant temperature of 35 degrees, providing a lovely warm environment. Warm water and buoyancy stimulates circulation and makes exercise easier and more effective.
Hydrotherapy is particularly appropriate for treating:
- Osteoarthritis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Ankylosing spondylitits
- Back and neck pain
- Musculo-skeletal conditions
- Injuries
- Post surgery recovery
Neurological conditions such a strokes, head injuries, Parkinsons, multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy.
Hydrotherapy calms, soothes, relaxes and improves self-confidence, making it also beneficial for people with learning disabilities.
The pool is 3.5 metres x 4 metres and 1.2 metres deep.
All equipment is suitable for wheelchair users.
The facilities include:
- Two changing rooms
- Two toilets suitable for wheelchair users
- Shower bed
- Shower chair
- Freeway ceiling tracking hoist
- A range of physiotherapy, exercise and games equipment
- Chill out room with water dispenser
The cost for using the pool is £25 per hour. Sessions can either be private or can be shared with others at a reduced cost. Monthly membership is available for £25 per month. One month's free membership with first six sessions of hydrotherapy.
