Service User Guide Part 6
Managing your money & personal belongings
Your Money and Personal Belongings
You might be able to manage your money on your own or you might need help from the Consortium staff who support you.
If you want support or it has been agreed that you need it, the Consortium will help you fill out a:
Tenant's Financial Support Plan
This plan helps you to decide together with the Consortium and other people who might help you, how you will manage your money.
It helps you to plan and understand:
Your benefits and any other money you have.
How much money you have to spend and how much you might want to save.
The bills you have to pay and any charges made by the Consortium or Social Services for your support.
Your bank accounts and what you will use them for.
Other people who might help you with your money such as an Appointee or Receiver.
You will agree the plan with your staff and with other people who might help you.
When should you make this plan:
Before you start having support from the Consortium.
And at least once a year to check it is still the way you want it.
Other financial records
If you are a tenant supported by the Consortium you can also be supported to keep other financial records, these will include:
Copies of Bank Statements - Bank statements will be sent to you first, you will agree who else can have a copy.
Personal Valuable Belongings List - Staff will support you to make a list of all the things you own (that cost more than £10). This will help you to keep an eye on your things they will help if anything gets stolen.
Insurance Documents - If the things you own are worth a lot of money you might want to take out insurance. This means that if something you own gets stolen or damaged, you will get money back to replace them. The Consortium can help you get an insurance policy if you want one.
