Will there be more inconsistency for service users especially those who have complex behaviours?
- The aim of the proposal to provide consistency for service users. The Support Co-ordinators will provide consistency both as a presence and by ensuring all Support Workers are aware of and follow the guidelines.
What about potential disruption to relationships service users have built with current staff?
- It is hoped that consistency will be maintained when Support Coordinators are allocated to services. Where possible staff who know the service users well will be allocated to that service.
What about possible increase in stress to staff having to move between service users?
- We will be as supportive as possible. It is worth noting that a lot of staff already work in a number of services.
Will the flexibility go from the service user’s day?
- To some extent this will happen as support will be more targeted and therefore more planned.
How will the morale of Support Workers be maintained so they don’t feel de-valued or de-skilled?
- The Service Coordinator will play an important role in maintain morale. There will be feedback sessions throughout the pilot with other managers.
