Targeted Support - Frequently Asked Questions about Consultation
Consultation
Who is going to explain this to the service users?
- Once the care reviews have taken place and we know the full effect of the changes the consultation process with service users and their families will begin. This will take place jointly with WGHC and Care Managers.
How will the Support Workers get information, memo’s etc?
- Information will be kept at the local office. There will also be the opportunity for staff to receive information electronically and during team meetings and supervisions. We will need to keep this under review.
One Team has been praised for good and consistent management of behaviour and then asked to change. This has caused confusion in the staff team
- It is envisaged that this consistency will be maintained by the Support Coordinators who will not only guide the Support Workers but will also work closely with the Clinical department.
How can we minimise the effects of change on the service users?
- The consultation process following the care reviews will be crucial. All staff will play an important role with the care managers. Monitoring of the service will also be important.
Will there be extra support for staff during the pilot? How will they be able to give feedback on teething problems?
- There will be regular feedback opportunities throughout the pilot phase with Christine, Helen and other managers where appropriate. There will also be on-going training and regular meetings.
What will happen if the pilot doesn’t work?
- The pilot will be monitored, evaluated and reviewed throughout the process. If at the end of the pilot the indicators are not good then the pilot does not roll out across the agency and we do not continue in network 6. If there are problems during the pilot which compromise our duty of care then the pilot could stop before the nine months has elapsed.
General Comments/Observations/Suggestions for Consultation
